- What is Jules’ Charms jewellery made out of?
- All silver jewellery – silver necklaces, silver bracelets and silver earrings are all made using Sterling 925 Silver, so that’s components such as; chains, bracelets, ear wires, jump rings, headpins and a few ring bases. The majority of the silver charms are sterling silver or other types of silver, like Thai or Indian.
- The button adjustable rings are either silver or tin plated. With the gold range of jewellery, the chains and ear wires are gold plated, this is a base metal which is dipped in an acid/gold wash to give it that finish. It is neither copper nor nickel. A lot of the gold pendants & charms are vintage brass, so keep their colour well.
- When it comes to some of the vintage/one off pieces, the material is sometimes unknown. Most of the rings and a few pieces of jewellery have been stuck using Araldite glue. For other charms and pendants there are many other materials used, which is explained in each individual description. If you are at all allergic, concerned, or unsure about anything please email me.
- How do I look after Jules’ Charms Jewellery?
- With great care, love and attention, that’s how! I advise keeping sterling silver jewellery as much out of the open air as possible, as the metal oxidises and turns black. It is always advised to keep your pieces in boxes or acid free paper. You can buy silver cleaning products and cloths to buff them up when they get dull.
- Be careful if there are stones/beads/pearls or other materials on your jewellery, as some don’t like being immersed in chemical dips/cleaners. With the brass bits, a lick of Brasso wouldn’t hurt. Lots of wear is good, but lots of tear isn’t – so be gentle with your lovely jewellery. Don’t spray perfume on them, don’t shower in them and definitely don’t do the housework in them – get someone else to do that!
- Can I buy Jules’ Charms anywhere else?
